Will Not Be Silenced

Will Not Be Silenced

This piece was originally going to be a vibrant Yellow and Red shaded girl surrounded by chaos but as I was painting, the more I started adding in my own feelings. When I created this piece, many creators on TikTok and across many social media accounts were being shadow banned and essentially silenced for talking about atrocities in the world. Whether it was the plight of the Palestinians, or speaking up about unjust killings of black people and other people of color, or speaking up about women and the daily atrocities many of us face, people were being silenced. Often speaking up against atrocities unfortunately means ostracizing yourself, but regardless, I refuse to be silent. In this painting, Even while the girl cannot speak, she finds ways to communicate her frustration in the words scattered around because even when silenced, I will never be silent

In regards to the many atrocities going on in the world:

I will not be silent about Sudan

I will not be silent about Congo

I will not be silent about Palestine

I will not be silent about Haiti

I will not be silent ever
